Runway Monthly May 2012

Second in series Runway Monthly took place last Tuesday.

This time the show opened with Analog Heart styled by Kimlee Jev presenting an eco-conscious, handmade line of jewellery made of vinyl records.
Followed by my friend Aleem Afir of Bano eeMee and his feminine creations. Even though that wasn’t the first time I saw the collection I really enjoyed designers fresh take on his line. Great leather jackets, wool capes and mixed material coats matched with just swimsuits and heels made me “see” collection again.
Marsina King of MaNoKin Design showcased new colourful collection inspired by previous designs.
The show was closed with designs by Dionne Dionne. Anya Dionne presented elegant pieces with a modern twist.

Welcome to my house! part I

In the last few months I mentioned house renos a few times… well we are just about to get new stucco and we’re done :) There was a lot to change inside and outside! Still a long way ahead but now we can finally start decorating our beautiful space.

Some new clothes have to “ripen” in my closet, even for months before I’m ready to wear them, some… I want to wear everyday with everything! New vest is one of those things, I don’t want to take it off.

Slightly addicted to my new skirt! Definitely becoming a huge Nowhere fan. The only thing that repels me from shopping on nelly.com is hassle with shipping… only to EU :/ So harassing my cousins and friend it is ;)

Next in swap series with my lovely KD :)
This time I got this adorable Forever 21 skirt to style.
Once I saw it I thought nothing easier to style it but after trying on different options for almost an hour I realized how wrong I was… The skirt is so versatile you can pretty much wear anything with it!
So this is what I came up with in the end :)

Runway Monthly April 2012

Last Tuesday was the Runway Monthly opening night. A series of fashion shows taking place in YYC every second Tuesday of each month until September.
Huge congrats to the organizers for putting on a great fashion show and supporting local designers, stylists and boutiques.

Nicole Rita Tomney (NRT Fashions) surprised us with a little bit more soft and gentle looks in comparison to last year’s creation.
Kirsten Summersgill (Pout Clothing) showed an oriental inspired collection.
Also we were able to see Crystal McKenzie styling amazing pieces from well known in Calgary Primitive Culture.

Highly anticipated PARKSHOW 2012 took place last Saturday. Let me just say I’m always exited for PARK events and It just makes me happy to see a great group of people so committed to promoting fashion and art in YYC. Thank you PARK for putting on one of the most awaited fashion events in Calgary ;) On the other hand I have a question… What is up with those front row red-necks coming to a fashion show just to get drunk…? What is up with the sound of empty beer bottles rolling from under their chairs straight into the runway…? There, I said it!

After abusing my Zara cell phone app for almost two weeks and harassing our YYC Zara staff I finally got my fringed skirt (I was actually hoping to get the other 100% leather version but I felt pretty lucky with this find).
Maybe I’m slightly exaggerating with the “harassing” but it’s not easy to get favourite Zara pieces in Calgary ;)

Swap with KD is back and this time my challenge was a fuchsia jacket. On the one hand, difficult task because in general I don’t feel comfortable wearing bright colours (although I’m trying once in a while). On the other hand… at least I knew I’ll wear it with black ;)

Just a few pics of my Saturday outfit.
I got this Alexander Wang top during my last stay in Phoenix, AZ where I spent three hours in Nordstrom Rack digging into endless racks to find only two pieces :/
Also, other than me in those pics you can see the room that in the close future (hoping for 2-3 weeks) will become our office… But at this point this is how half of my house looks like :/
